Eversheds Sutherland adds M&A partner in Chicago office

Eversheds Sutherland has appointed Stacey T Kern as a partner in the M&A and Private Capital teams within the firm’s Corporate Practice Group. Kern will be based in Eversheds Sutherland’s Chicago office, which opened in May.

“As we continue to build in Chicago, we are excited to welcome Stacey to the firm. She brings a strong background and years of experience at the highest levels in both M&A and private equity,” says Mark D Wasserman, Co-CEO of Eversheds Sutherland. “Adding Stacey in Chicago’s important private equity market is another step toward positioning the office as a focal point for our domestic and global platform – all while building off the work we have handled in the Midwest for more than a decade.”

Kern, who joins from Greenberg Traurig, has practiced for more than 20 years in such areas as mergers and acquisitions, private equity, restructurings and general corporate matters. Working in a broad range of industries, such as manufacturing, technology, pharmaceuticals and energy, her clients include financial sponsors, public companies and privately held companies in connection with domestic and international transactions.

“The depth and breadth of Stacey’s transactional experience in a variety of sectors complements our deep bench of corporate lawyers across the globe,” says Wade H Stribling, leader of the US Finance, M&A and Private Capital teams. “Stacey is a great addition to our Chicago office, which we opened with the idea that we would continue to add talented lawyers who fit from a strategic standpoint.”

In addition to Eversheds Sutherland’s new Chicago office, the firm announced the opening of an office in San Diego on 17 July. Kern is the fifteenth US lateral addition across six offices since January 2019, including Austin, Chicago, Houston, New York, Sacramento and San Diego.
