Virginie Morgon, former CEO of Eurazeo SE and one of the most prominent figures in European private equity, is setting up her own private equity firm with a strong focus on sustainable investments, according to a report by Bloomberg.
Her new venture, Ardabelle Capital, is aiming to raise €500m ($554m) in 2025 to launch that will employ a climate-driven investment strategy.
The report quotes Morgon as saying in an interview that: “Climate buyout is the missing middle in the private equity market,” and highlighting that there is a need for more PE players to help medium-sized companies accelerate their transition toward net-zero operations.
The firm will target profitable mid-market companies in sectors such as consumer goods, sustainable ingredients, eco-friendly packaging, waste management, recycling, and water system efficiency, with the goal of supporting businesses in aligning their operations with broader climate goals.
With a transatlantic presence, Ardabelle Capital will operate from both New York and Europe. Morgon’s founding partners include former Danone executive Bertrand Austruy, Julien Gattoni, ex-CFO of the World Economic Forum, Noemie Flammarion, previously with Suez, and Cara Kennedy-Cuomo.
