Fairview Capital and CAM Private Equity launch joint venture

Two fund-of-funds managers, Fairview Capital Partners of Farmington, Connecticut, and Co

Two fund-of-funds managers, Fairview Capital Partners of Farmington, Connecticut, and Cologne-based CAM Private Equity have launched a joint venture with the aim of enhancing cross-border investment activities and opening up new opportunities in the US and Europe.

CAM-Fairview Private Equity Partners, based in Farmington, represents an important step by Fairview and CAM to internationalise and broaden their private equity activities, the two firms say. CAM already has offices in Munich, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Zurich and Greenwich, Connecticut.

“The joint venture is a recognition of the strides Fairview has made within the US in establishing relationships with some of the most successful private equity and venture capital firms,” says managing partner and co-founder JoAnn Price. “The joint venture is an important part of our strategy to expand our activities to new and attractive, upcoming markets.”

Dr Rolf Wickenkamp, co-founder and executive partner at CAM Private Equity, says: “The establishment of CAM-Fairview Private Equity Partners is a major milestone in CAM’s efforts to expand and internationalise its activities, and underscores our ambitions to become a global player with highly specialised capabilities in a broad range of private equity markets.”

Launched in 1998, CAM is one of Europe’s leading independent private equity fund of funds managers with more than EUR2.5bn in assets under management. CAM entered into another joint venture earlier this year, launching CAM NewMarkets Partners, which will focus on new private equity markets outside North America and western Europe.

Fairview, which was launched in 1995, has more than USD2.4bn in assets under management. Its limited partners include the public pension funds of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut as well as the Florida Retirement System, Riverside Church and others.
