Irving Place Capital, the middle-market institutional private equity firm formerly known as Bear Stearns Merchant Banking, has appointed Peter Boneparth as a senior adviser with a focus on the retail and apparel sectors.
Boneparth will support Irving Place Capital’s work to identify and opportunistically pursue new investments.
He served most recently as chief executive officer of Jones Apparel Group, a designer and marketer of apparel and footwear brands.
During his time there, Boneparth expanded its apparel offerings and grew the firm through the acquisitions of Maxwell Shoe Company, Gloria Vanderbilt, Barneys New York, Kasper/Anne Klein and L.E.I.
Previously Boneparth was chief executive of Jones Moderate Division and of McNaughton Apparel Group.
‘I am thrilled to be part of Irving Place Capital,’ Boneparth says. ‘The firm has a successful history of partnering with management teams and corporations to build brands, identify and integrate acquisitions, and execute other strategic and operational initiatives in retail and apparel. I look forward to using my knowledge and experience in those sectors to contribute to the firm’s efforts.’
‘Peter brings deep experience and a strong track record of building companies in the retail and apparel industries,’ says Rick Perkal, a senior managing director of Irving Place Capital. ‘I am confident that he will be a valuable addition to our team.’
