Former NBCUniversal Chief Executive Jeff Shell is in advanced talks to join private-equity firm RedBird Capital Partners, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
The report cited people familiar with the matter as saying that Shell had been serving as an informal consultant to RedBird before entertaining talks to take a permanent position.
Before his time at NBCUniveral, Shell held leadership positions at Comcast and NBCU including heading the Universal Pictures movies studio and international operations.
According to the report, a formal announcement is expected in the first quarter of the new year.
