ARQIS has advised BWK GmbH Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft (BWK) on the acquisition of a majority stake in H & R Industrierohrbau. H & R Industrierohrbau, based in Goldbach in Bavaria, is specialised in the maintenance and construction of piping in production facilities. In 2017, the company generated a turnover of almost EUR16 million with 80 employees at its three locations – two of which are “on-site locations” at industrial parks in the Rhine-Main area. Among H&R’s customer base are major companies of the chemical and pharmaceutical sectors (eg AkzoNobel, Boehringer Ingelheim, Sanofi, and Clariant) as well as other medium-sized industrial customers.   “H
F2i SGR, acting on behalf of its second fund, is to acquire Enel Group’s entire portfolio of vegetable biomass plants. The deal includes the purchase of two plants for the production of electric energy from vegetable biomass, for combined power of 47 MW; the plants are located in the Italian regions of Calabria and Emilia-Romagna. The deal also includes, on completion of the period of construction (scheduled for the end of 2018), two more plants, for a combined electrical power of 48 MW. LGT Capital Partners reports that European alternatives managers’ adoption of ESG principals has increased. The sixth annual ESG Report assessed some 294 managers globally, grading them on how successfully they have integrated environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations into their investment activities.   The report found that the majority, at 58 per cent, of private equity firms are rated as either ‘Excellent’ or ‘Good’ in terms of ESG integration, compared to just 27 per cent in 2014, indicating that this has been made a priority by private equity managers.   Europe continues to lead the way in ESG integration, particularly

Ironwood Capital has made a subordinated debt and minority equity investment in American Residuals Group (ARG), an Arkansas-based environmental services company. Funding was provided by Ironwood Mezzanine Fund IV LP and its affiliated funds. Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets (MIRA), via Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 4 (MEIF4), and Wren House Infrastructure are to sell part of Viesgo to Repsol in a deal valued at EUR750 million. Repsol will acquire the majority of Viesgo’s unregulated assets including Viesgo Supply, which has electricity and gas contracts with 750,000 households and businesses, as well as 700MW of conventional generation hydro power (both pumping storage and run-of-river); and two Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) plants with a total installed capacity of 1650MW.   MIRA and Wren House will retain Viesgo’s regulated entities including the electricity distribution network business
MPC Capital’s investment platform for renewable energies in the CARICOM region, MPC Caribbean Clean Energy Fund, and Trinidad and Tobago conglomerate ANSA McAL, are to acquire an operational 21 MW windpark Tilawind, located in Tilarán in the Guanacaste province, Costa Rica. With a wind turbine capacity factor of 45 per cent, Tilarán represents an excellent location for the wind farm, which has been operational since 2015 and has the potential to expand its capacity to 40 MW in the future. Tilawind and the expansion were developed and constructed by the local project developer Gruman Resources, who currently operates the wind farm.
