Foley & Lardner and Gardere Wynne Sewell have completed the combination of the two firms, effective 1 April, 2018.  The combined firm will have approximately 1,100 lawyers in 24 offices in the United States, Mexico, Asia and Europe. Align Capital Partners’ (ACP) platform company Alliance Source Testing (Alliance) has completed its third add-on acquisition with the purchase of Air Pollution Testing (APT).   APT provides source emission testing (stack testing) and oil & gas laboratory services to customers in the western US with offices in Denver, Salt Lake City and Anchorage. Acquiring APT was an important next step for ACP who is actively investing in growth to build a national, best-in-class stack testing platform. Rasmala Group’s Rasmala Trade Finance Fund has crossed the USD250 million threshold in assets under management. The Fund has generated an annualised return of 4.45 per cent since its inception in September 2014. Rasmala said that heightened demand from asset managers to access genuinely uncorrelated investment products has seen the Fund grow significantly in just the last year. Apposite Capital, a private equity firm with an exclusive focus on healthcare, has teamed with management to acquire OrthoD Group from The Riverside Company. OrthoD is a specialist manufacturer and distributor of medical products and implants for joint reconstruction, sport medicine, surgical products and infection control applications. Financial details have not been disclosed.   Apposite Capital sees significant potential in supporting management in further building OrthoD’s export channels and in further commercialising OrthoD’s sport medicine products. Three Hills Capital Partners (THCP) has made an investment in Sigma Retail Solutions (Sigma), a provider of outsourced solutions to blue chip retailers across the UK, Europe and Australia. UgenTec, a medical technology company that has developed an AI-driven polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis and workflow software, has closed a USD9.3 million (EUR7.5 million) funding round. UgenTec automates and standardises high-throughput molecular diagnostics, particularly PCR. PCR analysis is a widely-adopted method for analysing DNA. It has enabled molecular laboratories to test DNA samples for a wide field of applications including infectious disease and oncology.   The company’s software FastFinder reduces workload for lab technicians and improves the reliability of results by introducing reproducible artificial intelligence. SK Capital, a private investment firm focused on the chemicals, specialty materials, and pharmaceuticals sectors, completed its previously announced acquisition of the Fire Safety and Oil Additives businesses of Israel Chemicals Ltd (ICL). The businesses have been renamed Perimeter Solutions (Perimeter) and will be headquartered in St Louis, Missouri. Pandion Mine Finance, an investment firm backed by MKS PAMP Group and Ospraie Management, that provides flexible financing solutions to developing mining companies, has closed its inaugural fund, Pandion Mine Finance Fund (PMFF) at USD175 million. Pala Investments Limited committed capital to PMFF.   PMFF seeks to identify attractive investment opportunities with typical investment size ranging from USD10 million to USD40 million. To date, PMFF has committed nearly USD60 million to four junior mining companies: Lupaka Gold Inc; Gowest Gold Ltd; FMS Investimentos e Participações LTDA; and Firesteel Resources Inc.   Ryan Byrne and Joseph Archibald, Co-Founders of Pandion, says,
Midaxo, a Finnish developer of a cloud M&A platform, has closed a EUR12.9m funding round comprising EUR10.3m for the company and EUR2.6m for the existing shareholders – led by major growth investor Idinvest Partners, with the participation of the existing investors Tesi and EOC Capital. This B round brings Midaxo’s total funding to EUR18.6 million and follows a period of sustained and rapid growth.
