Spectral Edge has completed an oversubscribed GBP1.5 million second funding round. New lead investors IQ Capital and Parkwalk Advisors, along with angel investors from Cambridge Angels, Wren Capital, Cambridge Capital Group and Martlet, the Marshall of Cambridge Corporate Angel investment fund, join the Rainbow Seed Fund/Midven and Iceni in backing the company. Spun out of the University of East Anglia (UEA) Colour Lab, Spectral Edge has developed innovative image fusion technology. This combines different types of image, ranging from the visible to invisible (such as infrared and thermal), to enhance detail, aid visual accessibility, and create ever more beautiful pictures.
Gimv today announces a EUR 4 million investment in Topas Therapeutics, a biopharma company developing a unique immunotherapy approach to treat autoimmune diseases.  This investment is part of a total Series A financing round of EUR 14 million from a consortium of specialised life sciences investors including Epidarex Capital, EMBL Ventures and Evotec AG.  Topas Therapeutics, based in Hamburg (Germany), has developed a unique technology for the induction of antigen-specific immune tolerance. Asure Software has acquired Mangrove Employer Services, a Tampa, Florida-based cloud SaaS vendor in Human Capital Management (HCM) applications.  The company develops, and implements HR, Payroll, Benefits, and Talent Management software solutions. Mangrove’s HCM suite of solutions is designed to be easy-to-use, with fully integrated HR/payroll applications to help companies recruit, manage, pay, and analyse their workforce more effectively. AITV, a US-based venture capital firm that invests in early-stage and medium-growth software companies, has made a follow-on investment in LiveAction's recent USD36 million Series B financing, alongside Insight Venture Partners and Cisco Investments.  As part of the investment, founding general partner, Bill Malloy, joins the LiveAction board as an observer, alongside already presiding board member and founding general partner, Brian Nugent. Coherent is to acquire Rofin for USD32.50 per share in cash, in a transaction valued at approximately USD942 million.  The transaction is expected to close within six to nine months, subject to approval by Rofin stockholders, regulatory approvals in the US and other countries as well as other customary closing conditions. Venn Partners, an operator and manager of real estate debt and secured consumer lending businesses, has launched Venn Hypotheken, a new Dutch residential mortgage lender based in the Netherlands. Venn Hypotheken plans to offer competitive pricing across the mortgage product spectrum, passing on to customers the benefits of its lower cost-base and its access to long-term and lower-margin funding channels that have been historically only been open to banks.   Venn Hypotheken plans to increase its mortgage lending to EUR2 billion annually by the end of 2018.
