Kensington Capital Partners’ Kensington Venture Fund has increased total investor commitments to the fund to CAD237 million. The Fund's third closing includes new commitments from institutional, family office and individual investors.

Legg Mason is to acquire a majority equity interest in RARE Infrastructure (RARE) a specialist in global listed infrastructure investing headquartered in Sydney, Australia.
The firm, with offices in Sydney, Melbourne, London and Chicago, specialises in global listed infrastructure investments, managing USD7.6 billion for institutional and retail clients. The acquisition expands Legg Mason's offerings in equity liquid alternative investments, adding an experienced manager in a high-growth asset class.

FreemarketFX, the peer-to-peer currency exchange has closed its latest Angel investment round and has surpassed its fundraising target to raise a final investment sum of GBP670,000.
This brings the total raised by freemarketFX, in the last eight months, to just over GBP1.25 million. freemarketFX was publicly launched in January 2015.

With the fundraising market remaining robust and average final close sizes climbing, dry powder has continued to increase. The level of committed capital available to private equity fund managers for investment is standing at a new high, at USD1.3 trillion (Fig 1). This is an 18% increase since December 2014, with over half of the increase in dry powder attributable to private equity real estate and buyout funds.

Private equity firm GTCR’s portfolio company Capella Healthcare, is to be acquired by Medical Properties Trust, a Birmingham, Alabama based self-advised real estate investment trust, for USD900 million in cash.
The transaction is expected to close during the second half of 2015, following customary regulatory approvals.

The Sterling Group, a middle market private equity firm based in Houston, Texas, has closed on USD1.25 billion in investor commitments for its most recent fund, Sterling Group Partners IV.
Fund IV was oversubscribed and reached its hard cap in three months. Consistent with Sterling's successful 33-year history, Fund IV primarily will target corporate carve-outs and family businesses in the industrial sector of the middle market.
The substantial majority of Fund IV's capital was committed by returning investors. Sterling welcomes a select number of new investors.
