Private investment firm Newlight Partners (Newlight) has made a significant equity investment in Zing Health Holdings, a physician-led Medicare Advantage HMO plan designed for Medicare-eligible beneficiaries.Founded in 2019 and headquartered in Chicago, Zing Health has a distinctive focus on populations underserved by traditional health insurance models. Cowen Healthcare Investments (CHI) has successfully completed fundraising for Cowen Healthcare Investments III LP (CHI III)with USD493 million, USD93 million above the Fund’s original target. CHI received commitments from existing and new investors, including institutional investors, family offices, and high net worth individuals. Par Equity has led a GBP750,000 financing round with support from The Scottish Investment Bank into UniKLasers, a manufacturer of high precision scientific laser instrumentation used in industrial applications.  This investment is the second that Par Equity has made since its partnership with British Business Investments via the Regional Angels Programme. The round takes UniKLasers’ total funding to GBP2.3 million. British fintech alternative payment provider start-up Fly Now Pay Later has raised GBP35 million in Series A equity and debt funding round, which will offer a new way to finance travel once restrictions ease. Iron Pillar has closed its USD45 million Top Up Fund, which will top-up the Iron Pillar Fund I that held its final close in 2018 with capital commitments of USD90 million.  With this new infusion of funds, Iron Pillar has added three global institutions including alternatives investor 57 Stars and one European family office to its investor base. The Top Up Fund, which was oversubscribed to its hard cap, will provide Iron Pillar additional capital to back specific Fund I portfolio companies. Global growth private equity firm TA Associates has agreed to make a strategic growth investment in Honan Insurance Group, a Melbourne-based commercial insurance broker. The deal is expected to close in the second half of 2020. Honan’s Group CEO and executive director Damien Honan, CEO Andrew Fluitsma and COO Laurence Basell will continue to lead the business and be shareholders alongside TA following the transaction.   Honan designs, prices and negotiates insurance policies on behalf of corporate clients. A new fund advised by VI Partners held its first close in April on EUR71 million. The fund will focus on medical and deep tech innovations from the Swiss scientific research ecosystem, and hold a final close in 2021.
