Foresight Group (Foresight), an independent infrastructure and private equity investment manager, is pleased to announce a GBP500,000 growth capital investment into Novel Technologies Holding Limited (NTH), developers of antimicrobial technology SILVERbac. This is the third investment made by the GBP20 million Foresight Scottish Growth Fund which is financed by the Scottish Growth Scheme through a combination of Scottish Government funds and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), and is part of a wider GBP2.1 million funding round for NTH.

Venture capital firm Vala Capital has opened a new tranche for its enterprise investment scheme (EIS) following the successful launch of its first EIS Portfolio in early 2019.The EIS Portfolio’s innovative performance fee structure means investors won’t pay any fees unless profits are made and their entire investment is eligible for EIS tax relief. There are no upfront charges or ongoing fees to pay, with all administration costs paid for by the companies that Vala Portfolio invests in through a one-off charge on deployment of cash. The only fee payable is a 20 per cent performance fee on profitable exits.

BGF has successfully exited its investment in fast-growth web hosting company, Miss Group, as financial backing has been secured from private equity investor Perwyn.Miss Group, which offers services including web hosting, domain registration and VPS to SMEs, received an initial GBP6.4 million from BGF in August 2018. This was followed by a further GBP13 million investment to accelerate its international expansion strategy in 2019.

Private equity investors completed 807 deals in Q4 2019, slightly down on the previous quarter, but still the second highest in the last decade, according to the Q4 2019 Unquote Private Equity Barometer, produced in association with Aberdeen Standard Investments.A substantial amount of capital was deployed in the last three months of the year, with quarterly deal value posting its third highest figure of the last decade at EUR67.6 billion.
