Quorso, a platform for managing business performance improvement, has closed a USD5.2 million Series A funding round, led by OMERS Ventures and joined by existing investor Hambro Perks.
Quorso will use the fundraising to accelerate its global commercial expansion. The Quorso platform makes performance improvement effortless; by surfacing insights, taking action, measuring impact and scaling success — all in a single tool. Harry Briggs, managing partner at OMERS Ventures, will join Quorso’s board of directors.

BlackRock’ has held the first close of the European Middle Market Private Debt Fund II, its European direct lending strategy, with EUR1.5billion in commitments – including segregated mandates.
The fund is managed by Stephan Caron.
The first close of EMMPD II has surpassed the final close of the previous fund (EMMPD I). The Fund has received commitments of EUR1.2 billion with a further EUR300 million in segregated mandates equating to EUR1.5 billion from 24 investors since its launch in June. Private equity firm Lonsdale Capital Partners’ (Lonsdale) portfolio company Cross Rental Services Group has completed the acquisition of Swegon Hire UK (Swegon).
The acquisition cements Cross’ position as one of the largest specialist chiller, boiler, heating & air conditioning rental companies in the UK and Irish market.
Lonsdale has now completed thirteen bolt-on acquisitions for its portfolio companies and eight platform investments, since closing its first institutional fund of GBP110 million in April 2016.

Ardenton Capital Corporation (Ardenton) has acquired Pebbles Care, a provider of residential care and education for young people across the United Kingdom. This is Ardenton’s sixth investment in the UK.
Headquartered in Leeds and Dunfermline, Pebbles currently operates 41 residential care homes and four schools, providing care and education across the North of England and Scotland for more than 100 young people.
Ardenton will work closely with the business’ management team, and the investment will support Pebbles in its roll-out of best-in-class service for young people.

Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ), a global institutional investor, has acquires a 24.9 per cent stake in the public-private partnership (PPP) contract for the trains, systems, operations and maintenance of Sydney Metro, Australia’s biggest public transport project, which includes both the North West and City & Southwest lines.
The total value of the transaction is AUD167 million (CAD150 million). Other investors include MTR Corporation Limited, Marubeni Corporation, Plenary Group and CIMIC Group Limited.
