UBS Asset Management’s (UBS-AM) Real Estate & Private Markets (REPM) has completed the acquisition of a 100 per cent interest in Gascan, the second largest distributor and supplier of piped liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in Portugal, from Arta Capital.
The investment was made on behalf of REPM’s global infrastructure equity strategy, with the transaction completed on an exclusive basis after an unsolicited approach to the Spanish private equity fund Arta Capital.
Gascan distributes and supplies piped LPG throughout Portugal to over 65,000 customers nationwide distributing over 11,000 tons of gas per year, with a network of over 760 km
Global law firm White & Case LLP has advised SoftBank Vision Fund on its investment in British unicorn OakNorth, in what will be the largest ever European fintech fundraising.
The investment values OakNorth at around USD2.8 billion. Closing of the investment will take place subject to regulatory approvals.
OakNorth is a challenger bank that specialises in lending to small and medium-sized businesses. It has lent over USD3.7 billion to British businesses, and has licensed its automated lending system to other banks and lenders around the world.

The transaction will follow Nexeo’s pending acquisition by Univar and is expected to close during the first half of 2019.

Monument Group has advised Altor on the raising of Altor Fund V, which closed at its hard cap of EUR2.5 billion of commitments after a brief fundraising period.
The investor base for Fund V, which closed on 6 February 2019, is comprised of primarily existing investors with a select group of new investors being invited.
