Gatewood Capital Partners (Gatewood), a premier private equity firm focused on seeding and anchoring emerging managers, has appointed Robert Zassman as a Vice President.
Prior to joining Gatewood, Zassman held several positions at Blackstone Inc, most recently as a member of the Blackstone Strategic Capital Group’s investment team, focused on GP stakes investments.
Zassman brings an extensive range of private equity experience to Gatewood and will be responsible for investment execution, analysis, due diligence, and portfolio management activities. “Robert is a natural fit for Gatewood with his experience in investing in GP stakes across fund strategies. He will be a great complement to the team and will help drive investment execution as we deploy our second fund and continue our long-term partnerships with emerging managers,” says Oren Monhite Yahav, Managing Partner of Gatewood.
Amir Aviv, Managing Partner of Gatewood, adds: “Robert’s hiring reflects Gatewood’s continued expansion as we enhance our capabilities and continue to grow the team and our platform. He will play an important role in a number of our core activities, providing another perspective and skillset to generate additional value for our investors and emerging manager partners.”
Zassman worked on a number of high-profile transactions in his prior roles, and contributed across functions, giving him a unique perspective on alternative investments and GP stakes.
Zassman says: “Gatewood has a truly differentiated investment strategy; its rigorous investment discipline and focused approach to scaling emerging managers drew me to the firm. It is an exciting time to invest in emerging managers and to join such a rapidly growing organisation focused on a traditionally underserved segment of the market.
