Private equity fund administrator Gen II Fund Services (Gen II) has appointed Ian Cameron as its Chief Operating Officer (COO). Cameron will focus on strategic and operational responsibilities at Gen II and will report to the Managing Principals, Norman Leben and Steven Millner.
Since 2015, Cameron was Chief Financial and Operations Officer for the Washington State Investment Board (WSIB). WSIB is a public pension plan that oversees approximately USD130 billion in assets under management, including retirement plans that benefit approximately 784,000 active and retired public employees. WSIB’s investment portfolio consists of over USD45 billion in private market assets. While at WSIB, Ian led the finance and investment operations, general business support functions and responsibilities associated with his role on the executive management team. Prior to joining WSIB, Ian was a finance director at Capital Group Private Markets (CGPM). While at CGPM, Ian was responsible for the financial management and investment operations for over USD5 billion of Private Equity assets.
Steven Alecia, who previously held the roles of Chief Operating Officer and Chief Client Officer, will continue in his position as Chief Client Officer and will add to his responsibilities the new position of Chief Revenue Officer. “This new organisational model will allow me to work more closely with Gen II’s clients and explore new opportunities. My number one priority will be to ensure that we continue to deliver world class service to all of our clients,” says Alecia.
“We are very excited about Ian joining the Gen II team,” says Leben. “Ian has an in-depth understanding of the Private Equity/Real Estate outsourcing model, and his extensive experience will be a valuable asset to Gen II. Additionally, he has the expertise and leadership qualities necessary to support the growth objectives of Gen II.”
“Ian understands that the client experience drives our business. His skills will help us broaden and deepen our ability to deliver best in class service to our clients as well as provide avenues for innovation,” says Millner.
“I’m extremely pleased to be joining the Gen II team,” says Cameron. “I first met Norman and Steven when I was working for CGPM and have always held them and Gen II in the highest regard. In my prior roles, I was always impressed with Gen II’s history, their client-centric service model, and partnership approach to relationships. The Gen II team is a world class group of professionals that have a preeminent reputation in the private equity fund administration industry.”
