Gerresheimer ends sale process following PE talks

Gerresheimer, the German packaging and medical equipment specialist, has officially ended discussions regarding a potential sale after several months of engagement with private equity suitors, according to a report by Reuters.

The Duesseldorf-headquartered company confirmed on Wednesday evening that it would no longer pursue a transaction.

Earlier this year, Gerresheimer revealed it was in preliminary talks with private equity firms, including KPS Capital Partners and Warburg Pincus, exploring a possible takeover.

The company, known for manufacturing injection pens used for weight-loss drugs such as Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy, concluded that continuing negotiations would not serve the best interests of the business or its stakeholders, according to a company statement.

Following the announcement, Gerresheimer’s shares dropped around 6% on Tradegate.

The firm has faced challenges amid sluggish demand in its cosmetics and oral liquids segments, prompting it last week to revise down the lower end of its 2025 revenue growth forecast to 0-2%, from an earlier 1-2% range.

Gerresheimer also flagged a strategic review of its moulded glass division, scheduled for 15 October, with the possibility of a spin-off.

Looking ahead, the company projects mid-term organic revenue growth of 6-9%, alongside an adjusted EBITDA margin of 23-25%.
