Global Equity acquires Northrop Grumman’s IT services organisation

Global Equity Capital has acquired an independent IT services organisation serving the commercial market from Northrop Grumman through a newly-formed entity.

The business, to be known as National Support Services, has approximately 500 professionals. It currently provides installation, maintenance and lifecycle services relating to IT products and managed desktop services in the areas of project management, warranty management, desk side software support, technology refresh and break/fix support for desktops, laptops and servers to customers in more than 35 states in the US

‘NSS is a leader in the market for IT services and support,’ says Mike Hirano, executive vice president of Global Equity Capital. ‘GEC has embarked on a strategy of creating a portfolio of high value IT service providers, and the NSS acquisition is an important milestone in that process. GEC affiliates Technical Solutions, headquartered in Troy, Michigan, and CBE Technologies, headquartered in Providence, Rhode Island, provide a comprehensive suite of IT and telephony services to commercial and government customers. Adding NSS to our portfolio allows sharing of best practices in response times, project planning and customer support, enhancing the experience for our customers and providing an excellent choice for IT managers and global outsourcing providers. We are seeking opportunities for additional growth in the portfolio in the near term.’

‘The NSS core team has provided enhanced customer service for more than 30 years,’ says Matt Mannix, president of National Support Services (North America). ‘We are focused on providing our customers, vendor partners and employees a smooth transition. At the same time the NSS team will be looking to expand and enhance our world class IT services capabilities as part of the GEC portfolio of companies.’

Global Equity Capital is a private equity firm focused on small to middle-market transactions.
