Goodwin names 15 new partners

Law firm Goodwin has elected 15 lawyers, including London-based private equity specialist Gemma Roberts, to the partnership with effect from 1 October.

Roberts, who becomes Goodwin’s 12th partner in London, advises on private equity transactions with a particular focus on the middle market and corporate mergers and acquisitions. She represents private equity and venture funds, management teams, corporates, financial institutions and entrepreneurs. Her practice spans leveraged buyouts, corporate restructurings, management incentive schemes, as well as general corporate matters and portfolio work. She is a member of the firm’s private equity group.
“We are delighted to welcome Gemma to the partnership,” says David Evans, London office chair. “Her promotion is another important strategic step in the expansion of our European private equity capabilities, following the appointment of Richard Lever and Simon Fulbrook in London last year and our subsequent openings in Frankfurt and Paris.”
Goodwin’s London platform has grown from three lawyers in 2011 to some 50 lawyers. In January next year, the firm will move to a new office building at 100 Cheapside, EC2, doubling the space the firm currently occupies at Tower 42.
