Gresham House Ventures appoints Portfolio Director amid growth push

Gresham House Ventures, a growth equity investor specialising in software and digitally driven businesses in the consumer, healthcare and service sectors, has appointed Marieke Christmann as Portfolio Director as the firm continues to strengthen its venture capital capabilities.

With a wealth of experience investing in and sitting on the boards of companies between £1m and £100m in revenues, Christmann brings substantial expertise in supporting founders and management from first investment to exit, with a particular focus on the software space.

In her new role, she will focus on value creation within Gresham House Ventures’ VCT portfolios and on developing the business’s portfolio management strategy, working alongside Managing Director of Portfolio Clive Austin and Portfolio Partner Ed Wass.

Prior to joining Gresham House Ventures, Christmann was a senior investor and a member of the investment committee at pan-European venture capital fund Forestay. In this role, she led a team focused on enterprise SaaS startups across the UK and Europe and served on the boards of four portfolio companies. She previously led the growth investment team at Octopus Ventures, serving on nine portfolio company boards alongside managing new and follow-on investments and exits. She began her career in the leveraged finance space at NIBC in Frankfurt and Credit Suisse in London.

The appointment follows Rohit Mathur joining the team as an Investment Partner in January and comes during a busy period of growth for Gresham House Ventures. The firm is currently fundraising for its Baronsmead VCTs, while it has also been active in terms of dealflow, having committed €4.25m into accessibility audit and data platform Mobility Mojo and £5m into adventure travel scale-up Much Better Adventures in recent months.
