Harris Williams & Co provides strategic advice to GameSparks on sale to Amazon.com.

Middle market investment bank Harris Williams & Co has provided strategic advice to gaming backend development platform GameSparks on its sale to Amazon.com.

Advisory services were provided by Thierry Monjauze and Mathew Tsui of Harris Williams & Co.’s Technology, Media & Telecom (TMT) Group.

“Griff and the team have built a leading platform attracting many of the top names across the gaming sector,” says Thierry Monjauze, a managing director at Harris Williams & Co. “It was a great pleasure working with such a cutting edge and innovative company and there is no doubt Amazon will benefit greatly from the technology and talent.”

GameSparks is a backend-as-a-service for game developers, providing major studios such as Ubisoft, Square Enix and Bandai Namco with an end-to-end tool to rapidly build the server-side features of their games as well as tuning and managing their games post-launch. Developers can save large amounts of time and talent by using GameSparks to create and maintain typical server-side components such as leaderboards, real-time and turn-based multiplayer, notifications, player save data and much more. The GameSparks platform offers a single integrated tool to build these server components, boosting player retention and player lifetime value without ever having to set up and run a server.
