Business leaders in the healthcare sector are more likely to seek an IPO than in any other sector, with over a quarter (27 per cent) saying becoming listed is their end goal for the business, according to ECI Partners’ Growth Characteristics report.
ECI, the growth-focused private equity firm, surveyed over 500 fast-growth SME business leaders as part of its Growth Characteristics report in order to define what makes a successful CEO, as well as to understand current challenges and growth plans.
The report also found that healthcare businesses have performed well over the last two years, with a flux of investment into the sector following the onset of the pandemic. When it comes to future fundraising, a fifth (19 per cent) of healthcare CEOs aim to sell a stake in their business to a private equity investor, while another fifth (19 per cent) intend to sell their business to a larger corporation, as alternative routes to an IPO.
