Hg, a private investment firm focussed on the European and transatlantic software, services, and data sectors, has appointed Steven Batchelor and Jean-Baptiste ‘JB’ Brian as Managing Partners and Co-Chief Executive Officers.
The appointments form part of Hg’s long-standing rotational leadership model, which ensures continuity and stability by enabling senior partners to step into executive management while former managing partners remain in full-time leadership roles.
Matthew Brockman and Justin von Simson, who have served as Co-CEOs since 2017, will continue in senior positions – Brockman remaining Chief Investment Officer and Chair of the Investment Committee, while taking on an expanded focus on Hg’s AI strategy, and Von Simson staying on the Board and Investment and Realisation Committees, continuing to lead the firm’s Munich office and co-lead the Saturn funds.
Batchelor and Brian bring decades of experience at Hg, having worked together since the early 2000s and contributed across investment, capital solutions, operations, governance, and client leadership. Their promotion reflects Hg’s commitment to thoughtful succession planning and long-term strategic continuity.
