HIG Capital VP launches Tigertail Capital Partners

Alex Gatof, Andrew Och and Zach Katz have launched Miami-based investment firm Tigertail Capital Partners, which will focus on control investments in US founder-owned businesses with enterprise values of up to $100m.

Tigertail Capital Partners has also formed its first platform, Advantage Distribution Holdings, which will serve as a tech-enabled distributor of HVAC equipment & parts. The firm is actively seeking targets.

Alex Gatof, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at TCP, commented: “Distributors, with their irreplicable logistics networks and hyper-localised fulfillment capabilities, are the lifeblood of the US supply chain and poised to benefit from numerous structural and secular tailwinds. To capitalise on this, we are committed to building a best-in-class distribution platform, having identified HVAC as the perfect industry in which to do so.”

Andrew Och, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at TCP, added that the platform was “filling a much-needed void in the market” given the “barbell-shaped competitive landscape between regional distributors and major platforms”.

Prior to founding TCP, Gatof served as Partner at Forest Avenue Capital Management. He has also worked at Coatue Management, Citadel and Goldman Sachs, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Och was most recently Product Manager at FinMkt, a fintech company providing software for home improvement financing.

Katz, meanwhile, was Vice President at HIG Capital, where he oversaw an LBO fund, according to his LinkedIn profile. He previously worked at AlpInvest Partners and Credit Suisse.
