HPE Growth has promoted former General Atlantic and TPG executives Tim van Delden and Manfred Krikke to co-managing partners as they turn a budding regional investment firm into a tier-1 European technology growth investment platform.
Formerly investment manager at General Atlantic, van Delden was instrumental in furthering the US growth giant’s expansion in Europe, before founding HPE Growth in 2008. Krikke was previously one of the founding Partners of TPG Growth in San Francisco.
Over the last seven years, van Delden and Krikke have been the architects of HPE’s evolution from a smaller regional technology firm into one of the go-to European growth investment firms with a focused investment strategy targeting European Digital Champions. HPE’s Management Team will also comprise Stefan Brugman (General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer) and Nigel Diesveld (CFO and Chief Risk Officer).
Hans van Ierland will remain involved with HPE as Chairman of the HPE Advisory Board which is being introduced to support management. HPE is pleased to welcome Kasper Struve, former director of private investments at Danish pension fund Industriens Pension for 11 years, as an independent board member. Harry Dolman will take up the role as Vice-Chairman and will continue to be actively involved in the HPE Platform.
Van Ierland says: “I am very proud of what we have accomplished so far at HPE. Tim and Manfred have proven to be exactly the right people to take the firm to the next level and I am excited to continue to support them as they build HPE into a global firm. I will spend some of my additional time supporting initiatives of the Dutch government to stimulate investments in deep technology companies in the Netherlands.”
Krikke says: “Tim and I are grateful for the trust that our partners, team and investors place in us as we grow our firm. Over the past decade, we have honed HPE’s focus on investing in European digital champions, and we are excited to continue to build upon this strategy. We believe that this market poses one of the most exciting growth investment opportunities in the foreseeable future.”
Van Delden says: “HPE’s organisational enhancements mark the next step in our evolution to becoming a Tier 1 player in Europe. As co-Founder of HPE, I welcome these recent developments which reflect our shift in scale and performance, as we continue to invest in winning technology firms. Our modern, sustainable culture is moving at a fast-growing pace to meet market and investor demands.”
HPE is further strengthening its team through promoting Frederic Huynen from Principal to Partner. Huynen has been one of the key members of HPE’s investment team for nine years and heads up the firm’s fintech practice. Frederic serves on the boards of AEVI and NGData, and is closely involved in PPRO.
Jonne de Leeuw, who has been with HPE for more than six years, most recently as a Principal, is becoming an HPE Venture Partner. Jonne is Board Member of HPE portfolio companies WeTransfer and Tiqets. Earlier this year HPE hired Amaury de Buyser and Joshua Rothkugel as Analysts and Ayoni Guda as Senior Operations Analyst.
