On 13 September, the private equity community came together at Dorney Lake for the annual Impetus Triathlon, demonstrating its continued commitment to transforming education and employment outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
With 283 competitors across dozens of firms, participants came out in force to support Impetus’ mission. With donations still coming in, we’ve already raised over £400,000 for the 2025 Triathlon. Inflexion, the event’s biggest supporter over the past nine years, has raised over £1.9m for Impetus, including a record-breaking £210,000 this year alone.
“The Inflexion Triathlon is always a highlight of our year,” said John Hartz, Managing Partner at Inflexion. “It’s a special event that unites our team, portfolio companies, friends and families in support of a great cause. Seeing so many people push themselves and raise a record-breaking amount for Impetus is truly inspiring. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and grateful to everyone who took part or supported us.”
Racing for a cause
As one of Impetus’ most significant annual events, the triathlon, supported by sponsors Advent International, Kirkland & Ellis, PwC, Brookfield, and Goodwin, serves a vital fundraising function for the charity. Every pound raised supports Impetus’ work with our portfolio of high-impact non-profits, who deliver transformative outcomes for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“This support makes a huge and lasting difference to the 23 non-profit organisations that we work with – ultimately helping more young people from disadvantaged backgrounds to succeed in school, work, and life,” said Impetus CEO Susannah Hardyman.
Driving impact together
Inspired by the private equity model, Impetus was established by people who wanted to ensure their donations would lead to meaningful change. Two decades later, we’re still committed to a data-driven approach to impact, ensuring the interventions we back are evidence-based and deliver measurable results that can scale. On average, our current partners have achieved a seven-times growth in income and a six-times growth in reach during their time with Impetus.
The private equity community’s support is the bedrock of that impact.
By participating, sponsoring or donating, the industry drives tangible change in the lives of young people. Together, we’re working to create a world where all young people, regardless of their background, can thrive in school, secure crucial qualifications and take their first steps into the world of work on the journey to sustained employment in adulthood, for a fulfilling life.
