Ingenious invests GBP2 million in new live cricket event

Ingenious Ventures, a leading manager of VCTs in the entertainment sector, today announces that it has invested GBP2 million in a new arena-based live cricket event, Titans of Cricket.

The investment has been made through Ingenious’ Entertainment VCTs (www.ingeniousvcts.co.uk), which invest in a range of music festivals, live events and TV shows.

Titans of Cricket takes the best of Twenty20, the IPL and World Cricket, in an innovative new format.  It features a two hour spectacular of batting, fielding, and bowling by top cricketing stars from four countries, competing in five extreme challenges to provide the ultimate test of cricketing skills.

Ashes legend Freddie Flintoff will lead an all star English team against Australian cult hero David Boon. 2011 World Cup Winner Virender Sehwag fronts the Indian effort against 1992 World Cup Winner, ‘The King of Swing’, Wasim Akram.

The event begins on 2 October 2011 in Manchester, moving to Birmingham on 5 October 2011, with the series finale taking place at The O2 in London on Saturday 8 October 2011.

Ingenious VCTs have already invested in a range of successful festivals and live events including:

Creamfields, the country’s leading dance festival, which was voted ‘Best Festival’ at the 2010 Music Week Awards, ahead of Glastonbury, V, T in the Park, Reading and Leeds Festivals. Creamfields has once again been nominated for this year’s ‘Best Festival’ award

Let’s Dance, the celebrity let’s dance show originally commissioned by the BBC, which this year completed its third series in aid of Comic Relief

Rewind Festival, a hugely popular 80s music festival which attracts more than 40,000 people across two days and which has already expanded with its sister festival Rewind North in 2011 taking place over the last weekend in July

Golf Live, an interactive golf event held at the London Club, which attracted celebrity sports stars including Colin Montgomerie, captain of Europe’s triumphant 2010 Ryder Cup team

Paul Bedford (pictured), Investment Director at Ingenious, says: “We are very pleased to be adding Titans of Cricket to our portfolio of exciting live entertainment events and growth businesses from around the UK.

“Alongside the growth of music festivals to an unprecedented level, we are also seeing increased demand for this type of live sports event and look forward to translating the success we have already seen with Golf Live to this new, arena-based offering.”
