Insight Venture Partners has announced the closing of Insight Venture Partners VI, a USD1.25bn private equity fund which like its predecessors will be invested in businesses focused on the global software and internet services industry, with capital deployed in both minority and control transactions.
‘We continue to apply a dual approach to investing,’ says Insight Venture Partners’ co-founder and managing director Jeff Horing. ‘By combining financial sophistication and flexibility with our deep operational and value-add services, Insight plays a unique role in helping unlock value for growing technology companies. Our investors are supportive of this strategy and we appreciate their continued commitment to Insight.’
Insight’s existing investors committed approximately 80 per cent of Insight Venture Partners VI, which brings cumulative capital commitments to greater than USD3bn since Insight’s establishment. Fund VI has flexibility to invest from USD10m to USD100m of equity in a single transaction and will continue to pursue investments in growing software and internet technology companies. Fund V, which closed in 2005 has invested in 21 companies to date.
Insight Venture Partners has appointed five new managing directors to help implement the strategic vision of its sixth fund. Ben Levin and George McCulloch become managing directors on the transaction team responsible for minority and control investments, while Hilary Gosher and Nikitas Koutoupes, responsible for Insight’s value creation team, assume roles as managing directors, as does Blair Flicker, the firm’s chief compliance officer.
‘With their extensive investment experience and operational success across our portfolio, we are delighted to welcome our colleagues to the management team,’ says managing director Deven Parekh. ‘Through their leadership they will help manage the execution of our strong deal flow, investment processes and value-add programs.’
Based in New York, Insight Venture Partners says it invests at the intersection of growth stage venture capital and buyouts and has become a specialist in software, technology and Internet services. The firm invests in growing companies developing technology-based solutions for businesses and consumers, and works alongside portfolio companies to support their growth and ability to scale.
