Financial services firm Investec has appointed Richard de Villiers as Senior Originator within its Global Fund Solutions team in New York, joining recent hires Sharon Thandi and Matthew (Matt) Wilbur as Investec continues to build out and strengthen its US hub.
The Fund Solutions team now comprises 40 professionals globally, with representation across the UK, Europe, South Africa, and North America. The expansion follows Investec Fund Solutions’ recent partnership with Ares Management, aimed at enhancing its lending capacity.
Thandi joined Investec’s UK team in November 2024, following a decade at Lloyds Banking Group where she focused on fund finance and financial sponsors coverage. Wilbur, who joined at the same time, is based in the US, and previously served as a portfolio manager within the Fund Finance division at Bridge Bank, covering a wide range of private equity strategies including Technology, Private Credit, and Infrastructure.
In a further move to strengthen its North American platform, Investec has appointed Jonathan Saxon as Head of Distribution for the region. Saxon will lead efforts to connect institutional clients with international opportunities across Investec’s global network, with a focus on equities.
The build-out underlines Investec’s commitment to delivering innovative capital solutions and broadening its reach within the growing US fund finance ecosystem.
