Ivanhoe Capital has appointed US attorney and former Massachusetts governor William (Bill) F.
Ivanhoe Capital has appointed US attorney and former Massachusetts governor William (Bill) F. Weld as an international business adviser, specialising in political and government relations.

Weld (pictured) will continue to be based in New York City, where he became a partner in the law firm of McDermott Will & Emery in 1997. His practice has been focused on government strategies, corporate investigations and compliance, energy and private equity.
As governor of Massachusetts between 1990 and 1997, he was credited with improving the business climate in the state and led business and trade missions to many countries in Asia, Europe, Latin America and Africa.
Prior to his terms as governor, Weld was a US federal prosecutor for seven years, serving as the assistant US attorney general in charge of the criminal division of the Justice Department in Washington D.C. and as the US attorney for Massachusetts during the Reagan administration. He was a securities and anti-trust litigator in Boston for 12 years.
Weld also was a partner with the New York private equity firm Leeds Weld between 2001 and 2005.
