Limerston Capital-backed AdviserPlus Group acquires employment law specialist Halborns

Limerston Capital-backed HR services group AdviserPlus has acquired Halborns, a specialist employment law firm based in Nottingham, UK.  The transaction was agreed at the start of March and has completed following regulatory approval. The new deal adds further capabilities and expertise to AdviserPlus, as part of a vision to create the UK’s leading technology-enabled HR services group.

Founded in 2013, Halborns has recently been ranked as a Times top 10 employment law business that takes a uniquely solutions-focussed approach to employment law advice. Through its Intelligent Employment platform Halborns provides proactive HR and employment law services enabling its subscribers to access a suite of continuously updated HR and employment related documents and to manage their HR function including employee data and absence as well as 24-hour access to a team of dedicated employment lawyers.

The deal builds on the existing capability of the AdviserPlus Group, which employs more than 250 HR specialists across three offices in Liverpool, Yorkshire and Northampton. The deal follows AdviserPlus’ acquisition of HR platform implementation experts, Succeed, an investment in SaaS HCM platform ElementSuite, and its acquisition of organisational change and outplacement specialist Working Transitions.

Julian Harley, Chairman at AdviserPlus, says: “I’m delighted to welcome the fantastic team and clients at Halborns into the AdviserPlus group of companies.  Both businesses are closely aligned in their values and we are looking forward to working with Ginny and her team to enhance the services we provide to benefit our combined customers.”

Ginny Hallam, Founder and CEO at Halborns, says: “Becoming part of the AdviserPlus group is such an exciting prospect for our team and clients. It was clear from day one that our values are aligned, services complementary and our passion for innovation and exceptional performance shared. Being part of the AdviserPlus group means greater opportunities to innovate and further enhance our proactive approach to employment law advice.”

AdviserPlus and Limerston Capital were advised by Avonhurst Legal Services LLP and Grant Thornton UK LLP. Halborns was advised by Eclipse Corporate Finance and Flint Bishop LLP.
