Lyric closes second music royalty fund

Lyric Capital Group, a New York-based private equity firm that specialises in investing in music copyrights, has closed its second fund, with total commitments of approximately $410 million, exceeding its target with support from a diverse group of new and existing institutional investors. 

Lyric Capital Group (Lyric Capital), a New York-based private equity firm that specialises in investing in music copyrights, has closed its second fund, with total commitments of approximately $410 million, exceeding its target with support from a diverse group of new and existing institutional investors. 

In addition, the firm, which owns global music publishing operation Spirit Music Group, also raised senior debt financing to bring Lyric’s new deployable capital to over $800 million.
  
Spirit Music Group, currently has a catalogue of over 100,000 owned and managed copyrights and master recordings spanning nine decades across every leading musical genre. The portfolio is largely made up of mature music royalty assets, including over 800 chart hits and 200-plus number one songs from a range of artists including The Who, Ed Sheeran, Eminem, Elvis, Frank Sinatra, ELO and more.
