Exaltare Capital Partners has held the successful closing of its initial private equity fund, Exaltare Capital Partners Fund I, at USD90 million.
Limited partners include a range of sophisticated institutional investors, family offices and asset managers. Founded in 2012, Exaltare is focused on acquiring niche-leading, owner-operated lower middle market businesses.
With the closing of Fund I, Exaltare also recapitalised ECP-PF Holdings Group. PF Holdings was formed in December 2012 by Exaltare and Brightwood Capital Advisors to acquire 15 clubs in Connecticut operating under the Planet Fitness brand. Preservation Capital Partners (Preservation Capital), a financial services focused private equity firm, is to acquire a substantial stake in Ascent Underwriting (Ascent), a cyber and specialty lines MGA.
Preservation Capital will provide significant growth capital to support Ascent’s growth ambitions through the development of new business lines and complementary products via the acquisition of emerging risk/specialist MGAs and through selective team hires.
The investment will assist Ascent to meet the strong growth in demand for cyber insurance cover globally and further develop Ascent’s proprietary OPTIO technology platform, while expanding its global distribution and in-house talent base.
The existing
Tikehau Capital AUM reached EUR12.6 billion as at 30 September 2017, a 13 per cent net increase compared to 30 June 2017 and a 26 per cent increase since 31 December 2016.
The growth of EUR1.5 billion in AUM since 30 June 2017 was mainly driven by inflows of EUR0.6 billion in the private debt business and inflows of EUR0.3 billion in the liquid strategies. The private equity business also benefitted from the EUR0.7 billion capital increase completed on 23 July 2017.
In the private debt business, the increase in AUM was mainly driven by (i) Tikehau Direct Lending IV,
Westpac Banking Corporation and Northill Capital have entered into an agreement regarding the sale of Hastings.
Northill is an independent, privately held asset management business, established in London in 2010. Northill is a long-term investor in high quality, specialist asset management businesses, with extensive global operating experience. As at 30 September 2017, assets under management by businesses in which Northill owns a majority interest total approximately USD48 billion. Northill is focused on investing in a long-term partnership, supporting the continued development of Hastings as an independent asset management business and providing significant co-investment capital to enhance alignment with investors.
Private equity firm High Street Capital has acquired a controlling interest in Open Range Beef, a niche provider of beef processing services, focused on serving the Certified Organic, grass-fed, antibiotic-free, toll processing and other niche markets.
Open Range Beef focuses on food safety, employee safety, quality processes, humane animal handling practices and traceability, as evidenced by its certifications from Oregon Tilth and Safe Quality Foods, among others.
The acquisition is High Street’s eighth platform investment for Fund IV.

Caseking, a European online-retailer and distributor of gaming and PC accessories backed by Equistone Partners Europe (Equistone), has acquired Trigono, a B2B software and hardware distributor, from financial holding company Bratt International.
The acquisition strengthens Caseking Group’s position in the Scandinavian market, while the Caseking product range will open up growth opportunities for Trigono. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.

Audax Private Equity has acquired Ecolab’s Equipment Care business from Ecolab Inc, a provider of commercial kitchen repair, maintenance services, and parts to the US commercial food service industry.
Equipment Care services 40,000 locations across 25 states with 500 technicians and 400 subcontractors and distributes 25K SKUs of OEM and private label parts. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
