Consumer product brand JML has acquired health and beauty goods start-up Brand Evangelists in a deal worth GBP2.3 million. JML, which was founded in 1986, is a UK-based company specialising in retail promotions, TV home shopping and e-commerce. A spokesperson said today that it had acquired a 51 per cent stake in Brand Evangelists, who specialise in health and beauty products aimed at a young demographic.   “This acquisition is complementary to JML in that we share the core principle of products that require demonstrations and have mass appeal. Satori Capital has made a USD10 million investment in The Lovesac Company. Satori, a Dallas/Fort Worth multi-strategy investment firm committed to the principles of conscious capitalism, served as the anchor investor in the current bridge round of financing. Mistral Equity Partners, which has provided growth capital to Lovesac since 2010, also invested in this bridge round.   Lovesac is a “new economy” e-commerce furniture retailer and high-end lifestyle brand whose most popular products include modular couches (Sactionals) and durafoam bean bags (Sacs). Lovesac’s Sactionals and Sacs are flexible, durable, washable, and shippable on short notice by FedEx and UPS.  
OurCrowd, a global leader in equity crowdfunding, has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with LetsVenture, India’s largest marketplace for startup funding. As part of this partnership, OurCrowd will offer curated deals to Indian investor syndicates managed by LetsVenture, as well as showcase Indian startups on OurCrowd’s platform, giving selected Indian startups access to accredited investors globally and to business development opportunities.   OurCrowd and LetsVenture will be also be collaborating on an ‘India Fund’ to invest in Israeli, Indian and global startups. Cybersecurity specialist Trend Micro Incorporated has launched a corporate venture fund to explore emerging technology markets. With an initial investment of USD100 million, this venture fund will allow Trend Micro to nurture a portfolio of startups that are incubating ideas and living at the epicenter of hyper growth markets, such as the Internet of Things (IoT). Rabobank has appointed Donald Meltzer, currently Vice Chairman, Head of Mergers & Acquisitions North America will assume the role of Global Head of M&A. The Guernsey funds sector enjoyed its largest growth in four years during the first quarter of 2017. The latest figures from the Guernsey Financial Services Commission show that the net asset value of funds under management and administration in the island grew by GBP10.6 billion (4.1 per cent) over the quarter – the highest margin of growth since the first quarter of 2013, when funds grew by GBP19.7 billion. Forterra, a manufacturer of water infrastructure pipe and products in the United States and Eastern Canada, is to sell the US concrete and steel pressure pipe assets of its Water Pipe and Products business segment to Thompson Pipe Group.
