Venture capital firm K2 Global has raised USD183 million in committed capital for a new fund.
K2 Global works with entrepreneurs in the mobile, e-commerce, fintech, AR/VR, artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, and machine learning realms.
K2 Global has invested USD58 million in over 10 companies to-date, including Magic Leap, Spotify, Uber as well as start-ups like Paktor, referred to as the Tinder of Asia.

Omnes Capital has sold its stake in Capcom to Circet, a French specialist in telecommunications infrastructure for telecoms operators.
This comes just a few months after the Omnes Croissance 4 midcap fund was closed at EUR210 million, allowing Omnes Capital to achieve a multiple of 2.6x.
This is the first exit for the Omnes Croissance 4 fund. Omnes acquired a stake in Capcom in 2015.
Capcom’s founder-managers have acquired a stake in Circet. Omnes Capital is investing in the new deal and has agreed to the fifth investment for Omnes Croissance 4.

Monroe Credit Advisors (MCA) has placed USD13.25 million in senior credit facilities supporting LongWater Opportunities’ acquisition and subsequent merger of two domestic sock manufacturers, Standard Merchandising Company (SMC) and Fox River Mills (FRM).
Based in Pennsauken, New Jersey, SMC designs, manufactures and distributes several lines of branded and private label hosiery products, specialising in luxury women’s products and athletic and novelty socks.
FRM is an Osage, Iowa-based producer of high quality, knitted technical socks and handwear for the outdoor, athletic, and casual markets.
MCA acted as the exclusive financial adviser to LongWater and its management team in the
Augentius, a service provider to private equity and real estate funds, saw its business grow by 18 per cent in 2016.
Augentius has grown by an average of 19 per cent per annum over each of the last five years and has around USD115 billion assets under administration and provides solutions to 520 funds and 198 clients.
The growth was spread across the globe, with Augentius seeing a substantial uptick in all regions. Augentius now services 12 domiciles around the world, providing reporting to investors from 111 countries.

Venture capital investment firm TrueBridge Capital Partners has held the closing of its first direct investment fund, TrueBridge Direct Fund, with USD125 million in commitments, exceeding its target of USD100 million.
The Direct Fund, TrueBridge's fifth fund, brings the firm's total assets under management to USD1.8 billion. The firm's previously closed funds were flagship funds-of-funds.

Private equity house Maven Capital Partners has been appointed by the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF) to manage the GBP57.5 million NPIF Maven Equity Finance fund.
It is part of NPIF’s GBP400 million of capital available to support growing SMEs.
NPIF Maven Equity Finance is focused on providing equity funding to high-potential businesses located primarily across Lancashire, Greater Manchester, Liverpool, Cumbria and Cheshire and is also able to support SMEs in Yorkshire & Humber and Tees Valley. It can offer funding of between GBP50,000 and GBP2 million to each SME.

KORE Software has created a new venture capital entity, KORE Software Capital, which has made its first investment in the group ticketing company Fevo.
One of KORE's ongoing goals is to share its success by helping other promising companies develop industry-leading ideas and initiatives.
To further this goal, KORE created a venture fund in 2016 through its affiliated company, KORE Software Capital, targeting investments of up to USD1 million each.

Real estate investment trust The GEO Group is to acquire Community Education Centers (CEC), a private provider of rehabilitative services for offenders in re-entry and in-prison treatment facilities as well as management services for county, state and federal correctional and detention facilities.
GEO will acquire CEC for USD360 million in an all cash transaction, excluding transaction related expenses.
GEO will not assume any debt as a result of the transaction. GEO plans to integrate CEC into GEO’s existing business units of GEO Corrections & Detention and GEO Care.

Legal firm Gilson Gray has doubled the capacity of its centrally located Edinburgh office after rapid growth in its first three years.
Gilson Gray, based at 29 Rutland Square in the heart of Edinburgh’s financial district, has expanded into the neighbouring four storey building at 25 Rutland Square, increasing its capital operations by more than 5,000 square foot.
Following on the back of the 3,500 square foot expansion of its Glasgow office in 2016, the move will enable the full service firm to cater for further additions to its team.
High profile acquisitions, which include the recruitment of
Iceoplex Operating, an affiliate of Blackstreet Capital Holdings (BCH), has acquired substantially all of the assets of the Iceoplex at Southpointe sports complex.
The facility has one sheet of ice, one multi-purpose indoor sport court utilised for indoor soccer and other turf sports, a health club, outdoor volleyball courts and the BLVD Pub and Kitchen restaurant.
Iceoplex, located in Canonsburg, PA, is a year-round indoor one-sheet ice arena that is home to numerous youth hockey and figure skating clubs and was previously the training facility for the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.
