Shareholders in the Standard Life European Private Equity Trust have approved plans to increase the dividend, simplify the fee structure and increase the flexibility of the investment strategy to enhance its overall exposure to private equity.
Reflecting the strategic changes, the trust is removing the reference to “European”, simplifying its name to the Standard Life Private Equity Trust (SLPE.L).
The evolution of the strategy will enable the manager to invest in the leading private equity buyout funds regardless of size and with additional geographic freedom.

Cobepa has acquired Brandblock Holding (HG) from Gilde Buy-out Partners.
HG is a supplier of specialty consumer cleaning and maintenance products with headquarters in The Netherlands and growing sales in the UK, Germany, Spain, France and Italy.

This deal marks Baird’s sixth consumer sell-side transaction with a European buyer or seller in the past 12 months.
There is continued confidence in the venture capital trust (VCT) sector with fundraising for the 2016/17 tax year to 31 December 2016 up 53 per cent on fundraising to 31 December in the 2015/16 tax year, according to data published by the Association of Investment Companies (AIC).
Some GBP169.5 million was raised at 31 December 2016 compared to GBP110.8 million at 31 December 2015.
The increased level of fundraising reflects early VCT offers being launched in the 2016/17 tax year, continuing demand for VCT offers that were open up to the end of 2016 and strong support for VCT dividend
Angeles Equity Partners has closed Angeles Equity Partners I (AEP I) with USD360 million in capital commitments.
The commitments came from a diverse group of institutional investors, including public and private pension plans, endowments, foundations, a sovereign wealth fund, and alternative asset managers in North America, Europe, and the Middle East.
AEP I is the firm’s first private equity fund and was substantially oversubscribed, exceeding its target of USD300 million.

Partners Group, the global private markets investment manager, acting on behalf of its clients, and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments), one of Canada's largest pension investment managers, have agreed to acquire European medical laboratory services operator, Cerba HealthCare.
The company is being acquired from PAI Partners, a European private equity firm, and the company's clinical pathologists and managers.

Between July and December 2016, Platina Energy Partners successfully restructured with Unicredit (London Branch) circa EUR100 million of non-recourse long-term financing, originally used to finance a 20 MW photovoltaic portfolio, consisting of three operational projects located in mainland Spain.
The financial restructuring of the portfolio will allow the optimisation of the financing structure and improve cash flows.

Mount Street is to acquire EAA Portfolio Advisors (EPA) from Erste Abwicklungsanstalt (EAA).
At the end of 2009, EAA was created as the asset management company to manage the assets of the former WestLB.
EAA was founded as a public law agency under the German Financial Market Stabilisation Fund Act. Its shareholders include the German State of North-Rhine Westphalia (NRW) and NRW’s Savings Banks Associations. EAA took over the responsibility for the wind-down of WestLB’s portfolio of more than EUR200 billion comprising a diverse range of complex non-performing loans, ABS, leveraged credit, asset finance and structured finance assets.
Francisco Partners has sold Source Photonics to a private equity consortium led by Redview Capital and Asia-IO, with participation from investors including TR Capital, Axiom Asia and Aberdeen Asset Management.
Source Photonics is a provider of communications and data connectivity components and modules in next-generation data centres, mobile and fixed-line networks.
Source Photonics was originally acquired by Francisco Partners in October 2010 as a carve-out from MRV Communications. Following the acquisition, Francisco Partners recruited CEO Doug Wright to join the company in May 2013.

Goodwin has advised Spice Private Equity (Bermuda), a subsidiary of the Swiss investment company Spice Private Equity Ltd, on a USD31.1 million sale of assets.
Seven assets were sold including all primary fund investments, simplifying cash management for Spice and creating further capacity for new direct investments.
The portfolio comprised five primary fund investments (Navis Asia VII, Northstar IV, Baring Asia VI, Carlyle Sub Saharan Africa Fund and Helios III) and two co-investments (Altico Capital and Rede D’Or).
During the holding of the portfolio, a gain of 6 per cent was generated.

Noerr has advised Landesbank Baden-Württemberg (LBBW) and Siemens Bank on financing the purchase of automotive supplier Dieter Braun by Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG).
The DBAG Fund VI, advised by DBAG, has acquired the majority of the shares in Dieter Braun by way of a buyout.
The seller is the private equity firm Seafort Advisors. Besides DBAG, the management will also hold shares in Dieter Braun in future.
The Dieter Braun Group specialises in cable assembly and lighting technology particularly for the automotive industry, with a workforce of some 1,500 and sites in Germany, the Czech Republic, Mexico, China
