Legal & General Capital (LGC) has backed a second fund by Pemberton which plans to lend GBP500 million to mid-sized UK businesses to support their growth. Chinese internet search provider Baidu is the lead investor in Easterly Ventures, a new USD60 million Brazil-based investment fund. Easterly Ventures will focus on providing funding, technology, local traffic and industry expertise for Brazilian tech start-ups, with the goal of building a robust mobile service ecosystem in Latin America.   Baidu announced its investment during an event in São Paulo, which was attended by over 200 Internet industry executives. French asset management firm Amundi is launching a single platform designed to bring its real and alternative assets under one entity and drive its aim of becoming one of the leading alternative asset managers in Europe. The firm writes that real estate, private debt, private equity, infrastructure and alternative multi-management are now all part of an integrated business, bringing together 200 investment professionals in origination, structuring and management, responsible for EUR34 billion in assets (as at 30th June 2016). One of the largest venture capital investors in the UK, Albion Ventures, is to acquire GBP490 million OLIM Investment Managers from Close Brothers Group.  OLIM is a fund manager specialising in UK quoted equities with a particular focus on charities, for which it manages GBP240 million, and in investment and other trusts (GBP170 million) and private clients (GBP80 million). Following the deal, Motoblouz’s co-founder and CEO Thomas Thumerelle will continue in his current role.   Founded in 2004 and headquartered near Lille, France, Motoblouz has grown to become the leading online retailer of motorcycle accessories and clothing in the French market.
