DAI has acquired MicroVest Capital Management (MicroVest), a lender to responsible finance institutions. The deal expands the capabilities of DAI’s investment management arm, DAI Capital.  Founded in 2003, MicroVest allocates private investments to financial institutions that serve disadvantaged and underbanked enterprises in emerging markets. The company has disbursed more than USD1 billion to some 200 financial institutions across 60 countries to help create economic opportunities and facilitate financial inclusion.         The combination of DAI and MicroVest reflects the two firms’ shared commitment to mobilize private sector capital to create jobs, reduce poverty, and advance the UN Sustainable Development
Private equity firm Growthdeck is to lead a new funding round for high fashion eyewear brand Kirk & Kirk to support the of launch a premium sunglasses range. The company has seen 40 per cent revenue growth in the last 12 months despite the pandemic and believes revenues could grow at a compound annual rate of 50 per cent over the next five years. This is Kirk & Kirk’s second fundraise with Growthdeck, which invested GBP1 million in 2019 and is continuing to support Kirk & Kirk’s progression into new markets as the company looks to raise an additional GBP300,000.
Eruptr Holdings (Eruptr), a provider of ROI-focused digital marketing patient engagement and customer acquisition solutions for hospitals and healthcare systems, has completed the acquisition of the health risk assessment (HRA) business line of Medicom Health. In March 2020, Eruptr acquired HealthAware, another market leader in the health risk assessment space. Medicom Health and HealthAware are highly complementary and the two solutions under Eruptr will allow the Company to offer hospital and health care systems a best-in-class suite of digital marketing solutions at scale. Medical Credit Fund (MCF), a debt investor fully dedicated to the African health sector, has completed a EUR32.5 million fundraise of its second fund (MCF II).  The funding round was anchored by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which provided the first equity injection of EUR7.5 million in January this year, to cater to the demand for loans during the heights of the Covid-19 crisis. Also participating in this funding round are CDC Group, EUR10 million, FMO, EUR7.5 million, Swedfund, EUR5 million and Philips, EUR2.5 million.  In addition, MCF will benefit from a guarantee facility by the US International Development
An affiliate of HIG Capital (HIG) has acquired Standard Hidraulica (STH), an international industrial group with a presence in the plumbing supplies category, previously part of industrial technology company Aalberts NV which is listed on the Euronext stock exchange in Amsterdam.  HIG plans to accelerate the Company’s growth and lead a consolidation in its core markets.   STH is headquartered in Montcada i Reixac (Barcelona, Spain), and operates subsidiaries in Pinto (Madrid, Spain), United Kingdom (Leigh, Greater Manchester), South Africa (Johannesburg, Port Elizabeth and Cape Town), and Greece (Acharnes, Athens).
EMERAM Capital Partners an investment manager of medium-sized companies in the German-speaking region, has closed a single-asset continuation vehicle for its Fund I portfolio company Boards & More.  The company has established itself as the global platform for kitesurfing, windsurfing and stand-up paddling (SUP) equipment, with additional product lines in cycling apparel, bike protection, and aftermarket bike equipment. The transaction was led by Coller Capital, one of the world’s leading dedicated secondaries investors.
Technology venture capital firm Balderton Capital has led a USD22 million in Series A funding round in Sweep, a carbon management platform for large enterprises, with participation from New Wave, La Famiglia and 2050.  This round of funding follows the original seed round and brings the company’s total funding to USD27 million, less than a year since launch.  Since it launched in April, Sweep has been working with Financial Times Stock Exchange 500 (FTSE) companies each responsible for 30-50 MtCO2e of carbon emissions per year. They have selected Sweep’s platform to help them build a science-based and data-driven climate program
Silver Lake, a specialist in technology investing, has made a EUR344 million investment in Software AG. The deal represents the first ever German PIPE (Private Investment in Public Equity) deal by a US technology investment firm. Software AG will use the funds to accelerate growth, supported by its cloud-native product set, further strengthening and extending its position in North America, and executing a strategic programme of value-creating M&A.
Software investor Main Capital Partners (Main) has acquired majority stakes in ORIBI ID-Solutions (ORIBI) and Qics in The Netherlands. The combined deal size is in the region of EUR20 million. These acquisitions represent the first two investments for its recently launched ‘Main Foundation I’ fund that targets smaller, high potential software companies delivering modern and highly capable technology platforms.
Ironwood Capital portfolio company ALCOM, a manufacturer of aluminium trailers including cargo haulers, car haulers, snow trailers, flat/open carriers and horse/livestock trailers, has acquired Triton Trailers (Triton).   Headquartered in Hartford, Wisconsin, Triton is a specialist in aluminium personal watercraft trailer production and ranks second in overall aluminium trailer sales of all types. Founded in 1975, Triton boasts more than 40 years of trailer manufacturing experience across a variety of recreational and utility market segments that include open and enclosed snowmobile, ATV/UTV, PWC, cargo and motorcycle towing solutions.
