Onbone, the developer of novel casting technology material, Woodcast, has raised a total of EUR10 million in a financing round led by MVM Life Science Partners, with participation from Finnish Industry Investment, Finnish private investors and existing investor Inveni Capital.  The funding round will be used to finance the international launch of the Woodcast suite of casting and splinting products. Onbone's innovative technology improves the clinical care of patients whilst reducing cost for hospitals and lowering the environmental impact of current technologies. Affiliates of investment funds managed by Oaktree Capital Managementt have completed the acquisition of Pulse Electronics Corporation. Oaktree invested a total of USD17.0 million in Pulse and subsequently acquired 100 per cent of its outstanding shares, making Pulse a private company. As a result of the transaction closing, Pulse’s stock will no longer trade in any public market. Pulse shareholders are entitled to receive USD1.50 in cash for each share of common stock they held as of 13 April, 2015. Pulse will continue to be led by Mark Twaalfhoven as Chief Executive Officer. Patron Capital Partners’ UK forecourt business, Motor Fuel Group (MFG), which is owned in partnership with Alasdaie Locke, has acquired 90 petrol filling stations from Shell for an undisclosed fee. Of the 90 sites, 53 per cent are located in the South East of England, including 21 sites in London.  This acquisition brings the total number of petrol filling stations that will be owned by MFG to 373, making it one of the largest independent fuel station operators in the UK. Middlefield is to merge the Energy IndexPlus Dividend Fund into Middlefield Global Infrastructure Mutual Fund effective on or about 17 June, 2015, with Global Infrastructure Fund being the continuing fund.  Given the relative illiquidity of the Fund's units on the Toronto Stock Exchange ("TSX"), the Merger is expected to benefit the Fund's unitholders by providing an opportunity to hold units of Global Infrastructure Fund, a strong-performing mutual fund that offers daily redemptions at net asset value. Ogier has advised Friends Life Group Limited, a London-listed Guernsey company, on its acquisition by Aviva, a deal which has created the UK's largest insurance, savings and asset management firm. The combined group will have some 16 million UK customers – equivalent to about one in four households – and around GBP340 billion of assets under management. Newly formed investment group, DW3 Products Group (DW3), which is backed by private equity firm NorthEdge Capital, has acquired Window Widgets, and Eclectic Systems. Window Widgets was founded in 2004 and has become the first port of call for key components for the window, door and conservatory sectors. Eclectic Systems is best known for developing the fast-growing, revolutionary Residence 9 (R9) window system.  The two businesses have been acquired from Dan Gill, who will now take on the role of CEO of the DW3 Products Group Window Division and join the main DW3 Board.    The acquisitions bring the total
Law firm Howard Kennedy’s VCT team has advised on 27 offers in 2014/15 with a combined market value of GBP370m, which have so far raised GBP300m. Just 33 VCTs in total came to market in the 2014/15 tax year.
