Mid-market private equity investor LDC has backed the management buyout (MBO) of Texecom, the UK’s leading manufacturer of electronic security products and services, from FTSE 100-listed technology group Halma plc.
Texecom manufactures and supplies intruder detection and mass notification solutions to the global commercial, industrial and high-end residential markets protecting millions of properties around the world. It also uses digital and cloud-based technology to provide integrated security and building management systems.
The business turned over GBP33.4 million FYE March 2021 and employs more than 380 people across its manufacturing facilities in Haslingden and Delph, and international offices in India,
Greengage, which has plans to become the first digital asset merchant bank, has secured its first institutional investment, a commitment of GBP2.5 million from Gibraltar-based portfolio firm, IOVlabs.

Keensight Capital, a private equity manager dedicated to pan-European Growth Buyout investments, has entered into an agreement to sell its stake in Demetra Holding (Demetra) to Astorg.
Created in 2016 by Keensight Capital and Tecres management, following the combination of Italy-based Tecres and Germany-based AAP Biomaterials, Demetra develops, manufactures, and distributes products used in orthopaedic implant surgeries and spine interventions.

UK law firm Shoosmiths has advised Kortext, a Bournemouth-based university-focussed digital teaching and learning platform, in securing a GBP15 million series B investment from DMG Ventures, the venture capital arm of Daily Mail and General Trust plc, that has previously backed companies including Cazoo and Zoopla.
Kortext has been a Shoosmiths client since its founding by James Gray in 2013. The firm has acted for Kortext in all its prior funding rounds, raising GBP19 million since it began trading. DMG Ventures led the company’s series A round in 2019 and was the sole participant in this latest round.

UK law firm Shoosmiths has advised Equitix, a European infrastructure investor, on its GBP75 million investment into Grain Connect Limited (a multi-brand ISP and fibre broadband operator) based in the north-west of England.
Grain Connect is a leading provider of fibre-optic internet access services largely to new-builds as well as existing homes, working with developers in well over 100 locations across the UK. Grain has already begun to roll out full fibre hyper-fast broadband services to a number of towns and cities across the North of England. International web hosting business, Miss Group has acquired Spanish-based ADW Europe SL as part of its ambitious buy and build strategy.
The acquisition of ADW Europe SL is the fourth to be completed by Miss Group this year to date and adds a further 1,400 international SME customers to the Group. It’s the first Spanish bolt-on to Profesional Hosting, which was acquired by Miss Group in 2019. The combination of the two businesses is expected to accelerate revenue and EBITDA growth for the Group in the Spanish market.
