Brentwood Associates (Brentwood), a Los Angeles-based private equity firm, has closed the Brentwood Associates Opportunities Fund, with USD190 million in capital commitments. The fund has has completed the purchase of selected legacy assets from two of Brentwood’s prior funds and provided liquidity to its investors. Hinman served as Director of Corporation Finance at the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) from 2017 to 2020, where he was primarily responsible for overseeing regulations and processes for initial public offerings and other corporate disclosures. During his tenure at the SEC, Mr. Hinman spearheaded nearly 50 policy and rule-making initiatives designed to strengthen public markets as well as modernise and improve the framework for companies accessing capital markets, including addressing the large increase in SPAC offerings. Nordic Capital, a private equity investor with a resolute commitment to creating stronger, sustainable businesses, has further invested in ArisGlobal, by acquiring an additional shareholding from the founding Abbhi family.   The transaction follows Nordic Capital’s initial investment in ArisGlobal, a provider of innovative software-as-a-service (SaaS) solutions for the life sciences industry in 2019 and subsequent years of significant growth for the Miami-based company. Hayden AI Technologies, Inc (Hayden AI), a smart city solutions provider, has closed a USD4.5 million funding round led by BootstrapLabs, an early-stage Silicon Valley venture capital firm focused on Applied Artificial Intelligence.   This brings the company’s total funding to USD9.5 million, including a USD5 million seed round from last year. The new funding will go towards accelerating the development and delivery of AI-powered solutions aimed at enabling governments to achieve their goals of safer streets, equitable transportation, and efficient urban mobility.  In addition to BootstrapLabs also participating in the round were seed stage investor MVP Partners, UC Berkeley’s
Concentrix Corporation, a global provider of customer experience (CX) solutions and technology, has reached a definitive agreement to sell its insurance third-party administration operations and software platform (CIS) to Abry Partners, a Boston-based private equity firm, and Hoplon Capital, an asset manager focused on digital disruption of end markets including insurance.   This will create a new company which will operate as a standalone business bringing innovation to the insurance marketplace. The transaction is expected to close by the end of May 2021 subject to the approval of customary regulatory requirements and closing conditions. The sale does not impact Concentrix’
Arkhn, a specialist in healthcare data interoperability, has finalised a first round of financing of EUR4 million. This financing round was jointly led by Kurma Partners and Newfund, through their respective funds Kurma Diagnostics II and Newfund II, with the support of the European Commission and the public bank Bpifrance.  Founded in August 2019, Arkhn tackles the issue of accessing healthcare data.
