Private equity and infrastructure investment manager Foresight Group (Foresight), has made a further GBP2 million follow-on investment into Envair Technology, a provider of containment solutions that facilitates faster and more flexible drug R&D and manufacture across the globe.The investment will support the acquisition of Total Containment Solutions (TCS), a designer and manufacturer of high specification pharmaceutical fume cupboards, increasing the Company’s product portfolio as it supports customers in the pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical, healthcare and industrial markets. ENSEK, a software supplier to UK energy providers, has acquired NrgFin, a Benelux-based consultancy and data analytics company. The deal is part of ENSEK’s growth strategy to expand into new international territories within Western Europe, as well as pursuing wider growth opportunities in the UK. With this acquisition, ENSEK will set foot on the European continent for the first time.     The deal represents the first acquisition completed by ENSEK. Aberdeen Standard Investments (ASI) infrastructure debt team has invested GBP48 million in a UK smart meter business.This partnership with Calvin Capital, a part of the Calisen Group, will help drive the UK’s green agenda forward aligning UK homes with UK smart meter ambitions and targets. ASI’s investment helps refinance 3.8 million smart meters and facilitate the installation of a further 6.4 million smart meters by the end of 2024.   The investment was made on behalf of the ASI Multi-Sector Private Credit Fund as well as strategic clients, including Phoenix Group, amongst others. Fairway Global Investment led the round, together with Global Brain, a major venture capital firm based in Tokyo, Japan, who acted as co-investor. US private equity firm KKR has released its second quarter financial results showing 5 per cent higher earnings for the first six months of 2020 compared to the first six months of 2019.  The firm’s private equity funds increased 11 per cent in the second quarter, while its global infrastructure and real estate funds increased by 7 per cent and 2 per cent. New capital raised in the quarter totalled USD16 billion – a record quarterly figure for KKR – driven by fundraising across its Asia Private Equity, Asia Infrastructure, Core Plus Real Estate and Dislocation strategies, according to the firm.

Karma Ventures and byFounders have led a USD6.1 million funding round in Icelandic anti-money laundering startup Lucinity. Existing investors Nordic based Crowberry Capital and US based early stage investor Preceptor Capital also participated in the founding round. The software startup Lucinity is an Anti-Money-Laundering app that “uses human AI to ‘make money good’ by augmenting financial crime fighters in financial firms with AI technology,” according to the company. Hydrogen fuel cell specialist Bramble Energy has raised GBP5 million in a Series A round led by BGF with participation from existing investors including IP Group, Parkwalk Advisors, and UCL Technology Fund.Bramble Energy has developed the only technology capable of producing gigawatts of hydrogen fuel cells using existing global manufacturing resources, dramatically reducing the time to market and investment needed versus existing fuel cell designs.
