The Unión Martín Group, a company backed by Alantra Private Equity, has completed the acquisition of a significant stake in the Mauritanian fishing company Societé Mauritanienne pour la Pêche Industrielle (SMPI), which has three freezer vessels and a fishing capacity of circa 700 tonnes per year. As a fundamental part of the agreement, its Mauritanian partner, Mohamed Lemine Laroussi, maintains a significant stake and continues managing the company.   Unión Martín already had exclusive agreements for the supply of raw material captured by SMPI, so this acquisition will allow it to obtain the margin generated by the ship-owner at sourcing.

Venture capital firm Harlem Capital has closed its inaugural fund Harlem Capital Partners Venture Fund I, LP at USD40.3 million (Fund I). The fund was oversubscribed from its target of USD25.0 million and above its initial cap of USD40.0 million. Established in December 2015, the firm was founded in a Harlem living room as an angel syndicate by Managing Partners Henri Pierre-Jacques and Jarrid Tingle, who worked together at ICV Partners, alongside Venture Partner Brandon Bryant. Monomoy Capital Partners, a private investment firm with USD1.6 billion in committed capital in a family of investment funds, has completed the acquisition of Sportech, a supplier of cab components for utility task vehicles (UTVs”. Terms of the transaction have not been disclosed. Sportech was founded by Chris Carlson in 1994 and is headquartered in Elk River, Minnesota. Zenobē Energy, an independent UK-based owner and operator of battery storage, has secured a non-recourse GBP25 million debt facility from Santander Corporate & Commercial, to support the continued growth of the company.
