Services-focused investor Maple Park Capital Partners has appointed Steve Wiborg, co-founder and executive chairman of Ampler Holdings and director at Maple Park portfolio company Rita’s Italian Ice, as an operating advisor. Wiborg’s appointment follows Maple Park’s appointment of Jason Kidd as an operating advisor to the firm last month.
Wiborg brings more than three decades of operating, leadership, and board experience, with time serving in senior roles at multi-unit, franchise, and consumer-services businesses. The firm says he will work with its investment team to execute value-creation initiatives, leadership development, and scalable operating infrastructure across the firm’s portfolio.
As co-founder and executive chairman of Ampler Holdings, he has scaled the business to over 450 units across four different brands. Previously, he served as chairman, executive vice president, and president of North America for Burger King Corporation following its acquisition by 3G Capital. During his tenure there, he helped execute Burger King’s turnaround strategy, including its public listing.
Before that, he served as president and chief executive officer of Heartland Food Corporation, having earlier served as the company’s chief operating officer. He has also previously been an owner-operator of 56 Hardee’s restaurants, and has previously served as a director of Carrols Restaurant Group.
