DLA Piper has appointed Mark Roppel as a partner in the firm’s corporate and finance group in New York.
Roppel has more than 25 years of experience with complex, cross-border transactions in Asia, Europe and the Americas, particularly in China, where he practiced for six years.
He brings M&A experience (including hostile M&A) to the firm, representing clients in a variety of transactions, including stock mergers, tender offers, public offerings, private stock and asset purchases, private placements, leveraged acquisitions, restructurings, joint ventures and strategic alliances. In addition, he advises clients on corporate governance matters and represents financial institutions as transaction advisors.
“In addition to his extensive US public company M&A experience, Mark has an extraordinary background in and familiarity with the Asian market,” says Roger Meltzer, co-chairman of the Americas and global chair of DLA Piper's corporate and finance practice. “He is a leader and extremely talented lawyer whose skills and experience with intricate cross-border issues will help enhance our global transactional practice.”
“Mark’s diverse and considerable background will make him an integral component of our corporate practice in New York and the ideal complement to our global platform,” says Heidi Levine, co-managing partner of the firm’s New York office. “We very much look forward to his contributions.”
