Matthew J Rizzo Joins Sidley Austin LLP as private equity partner in New York

Matthew J Rizzo has joined Sidley Austin as a partner, resident in New York. Rizzo will continue to focus his practice on private equity, mergers and acquisitions and venture capital.

“Matt has broad industry experience and knowledge, which makes him an excellent choice to expand the firm’s private equity capabilities in New York,” says Scott Freeman, a global coordinator of Sidley’s M&A and private equity group. “Sidley has a respected M&A and private equity team and is committed to growing those practices in New York and around the world. Matt is a terrific addition to our New York team and will add a new roster of private equity clients.”

Rizzo regularly represents private equity firms in acquisitions and dispositions of privately and publicly held businesses across a wide range of industries. He also advises public company boards of directors with respect to their fiduciary duties in a variety of contexts. Rizzo also has extensive experience representing venture capital investors and privately held companies in early-stage and follow-on investments and financings.

Rizzo received his JD from Columbia Law School and his BS, cum laude, from Georgetown University.
