International law firm McDermott Will & Emery has announced that Hugh Nineham will join its London office as a partner and head of European and London corporate.
International law firm McDermott Will & Emery has announced that Hugh Nineham will join its London office as a partner and head of European and London corporate. He was previously head of corporate finance at Lovells, having previously spent two years in New York and five years in the firm’s Hong Kong office.
Nineham’s practice focuses on mergers, acquisitions and securities transactions, frequently with a significant cross-border component, and he has acted on numerous high-profile transactions, including most recently Temasek’s GBP1bn investment in Barclays Bank and advising broadcaster ITV on the failed bid from cable operator NTL.
‘Hugh is an excellent lawyer with a market-leading reputation,’ says McDermott’s global chairman, Harvey Freishtat. ‘His appointment is a significant step in implementing our strategy of building a top-tier cross-border transaction practice based on the integrated teamwork of the London office and the firm globally.’
David Dalgarno, head of the London office, adds: ‘Hugh’s considerable experience in managing international client relationships and major corporate transactions will provide the ideal platform for us to grow our M&A and private equity practices across Europe and the Far East in conjunction with our European network and Shanghai-based MWE China Law Offices.’
