Mid Europa Partners announces appointment of three new partners

Mid Europa Partners, a private equity firm focused on buyouts in central Europe, has announced the appointment of Robert Knorr, Zbigniew Rekusz and Matthew Strassberg as partners.

Mid Europa Partners, a private equity firm focused on buyouts in central Europe, has announced the appointment of Robert Knorr, Zbigniew Rekusz and Matthew Strassberg as partners.

Knorr, who joined Mid Europa in 1999 and is based in London, has worked on investments including Serbia Broadband, Calucem and Telemach. He previously worked at Bankers Trust in London and Deutsche Bank in Milan.

Rekusz, who joined Mid Europa in 2002, heads its Warsaw office and has worked on various transactions including Wheelabrator, Invitel and Karneval, following spells at Barings Communications Equity and UNP Holdings.

Strassberg, who joined Mid Europa in 2002 and is based in London, has been involved in investments including Luxmed/Medycyna Rodzinna, Bite, Aster and Invitel. He previously worked in investment banking at Merrill Lynch and JP Morgan and in private equity.

Mid Europa currently advises and manages funds with committed capital of approximately EUR2.6bn. The firm takes controlling stakes in central European companies operating in sectors with high barriers to entry, typically investing between EUR50m and EUR200m in companies with enterprise values of up to EUR1bn.

Mid Europa’s team of 20 investment professionals has worked together since 1999 and operates from offices in London, Budapest and Warsaw.
