Monk’s Hill Ventures (MHV) makes two partner appointments

Monk’s Hill Ventures (MHV), a Southeast-Asia early-stage tech venture capital firm, has appointed Michele Daoud and Justin Nguyen as Partners, effective immediately.

“Michele and Justin bring unparalleled operating experience in the tech and venture capital as former entrepreneurs and operators themselves. They join us as Partners during a transformative time in Southeast Asia tech where we are seeing a boom of inspiring entrepreneurs who are tackling real problems and transforming millions of lives,” says Kuo-Yi Lim, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at Monk’s Hill Ventures.

As the first female Partner at the firm, Daoud has built a successful track record of investing in and supporting several startups including Finaxar, ELSA, Dana Cita, Bot MD, Padlet, C88 Financial Technologies, and Ninja Van. She plays an integral role at the firm; working with founders to scale their businesses, sourcing and structuring investments for MHV – along with building the MHV team. She is skilled in scaling technology products and possesses deep experience in emerging markets across Africa, Middle East, and Asia.

Daoud previously held leadership positions at Udemy, Google and Oliver Wyman. She holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of  Business. She is based in Singapore.

Nguyen brings more than two decades of leadership and entrepreneurial experience, helping to launch three successful startups in China and the United States. He is based in Vietnam, where he spearheads deal sourcing and advises MHV’s portfolio companies in the region. Nguyen led the firm’s investments in OhmniLabs and Jio Health and serves as an Observer on their boards. He joined MHV as an Operating Advisor in 2016.

“We are very happy to appoint Michele and Justin as Partners. They bring in-depth experience to the Southeast Asia tech industry and have a strong track record in working with entrepreneurs to scale their businesses. Their appointments will bolster our vision in building the next generation of Southeast Asia global companies,” says Peng T Ong, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of MHV.

Daoud and Nguyen joins Mohd Ridzwan (‘Reez’) Nordin as its newest partners. Nordin is MHV’s Partner based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He was previously part of the technology investment team at Khazanah Nasional, Malaysia’s strategic investment fund.
