New Zealand-based infrastructure investor HRL Morrison & Co (Morrison) is in discussions to acquire Ark Data Centres (Ark), which is controlled by activist hedge fund firm Elliot Investment Management, in a deal that could value the business at around £2.5 billion, according to a report by Bloomberg.

Unnamed Bloomberg sources have confirmed that Morrison is one of two final bidders seeking to acquire Ark, with discussions reportedly at an advanced stage. No final agreements have been reached through, and the deal is not guaranteed to proceed.

London-based Ark, which was founded in 2005, is among the UK’s largest data centre operators and offers cloud and connectivity services to a wide range of clients.

Morrison, which specialises in infrastructure investments, oversees more than $18 billion and, according to its website, has invested in everything from data centres to airports across Asia Pacific, Europe and the US.
