New heads for Jersey Funds Association

Nigel Strachan, Head of New Business for corporate clients at Kleinwort Benson (pictured above left), has been appointed Chairman of the Jersey Funds Association and Edward Devenport (pictured above right), partner at Mourant Ozannes, takes on the role of Vice Chairman.

The Jersey Funds Association (JFA) is a trade association representing companies with Jersey offices operating in the funds sector. The Association has over 70 members; membership spans from small Jersey-owned companies to global leaders such as State Street and JP Morgan.

Strachan and Devenport have been active members of the Jersey Funds Association committee for several years, working on various technical and regulatory issues on behalf of the Jersey funds industry.

Strachan says, “Globally the funds industry faces interesting and challenging times. However as one of the main players in the offshore funds industry, I feel Jersey will be adept at rising to the challenges it faces in the current economic climate and in light of moves towards a more regulated industry across all jurisdictions.”

He continues, “The Jersey Funds industry has a highly experienced and motivated committee which will look at the issues facing the industry and strive to bring solutions to the table, work in partnership with Jersey Finance and maintain a good working relationship with the Jersey Financial Services Commission. I would also thank Richard Thomas as the outgoing Chair and Susan Clark as the outgoing Vice Chair for all of their tremendous efforts at the helm of the JFA over the last three years."

The other members of the JFA Committee are: Nick Taylor (Treasurer), Vernon Breese, Julia Chapman, Ian Crosby, Kevin Gilley, Eve Kosofsky, Andrew Mason, Graeme McArthur, Tim Morgan, Martin Paul, Michael Rothwell, Jenny Swan, Gayle Swanson, Nigel Watson and Andrew Wignall.
